Yarra Yering's first Chardonnay vines were planted in 1969 by Dr Bailey Carrodus and subsequent plantings have increased availability of this limited production wine, but only marginally. Yarra Yering Chardonnay is a highly individual style, richly layered but focussed. On the nose bright and flinty oyster shell notes with grapefruits, pears and lemongrass. A hint of vanillan oak bringing a sweet perfume. On the palate?this is a wine that is fine boned with citrus flavours dominating in its youth.
