The Gimblett is a blend of grape varieties picked from Trinity Hill's vineyards in the Gimblett Gravels region of Hawkes Bay. Since 2005, ᄀᄚThe Gimblettᄀᄆ has typically been a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, in varying proportions, depending on the strengths of the vintage. Thanks to a warm growing season this vintage is made almost entirely from the Cabernet family - Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), Cabernet Franc (43%) and Tempranillo (3%). Each variety and vineyard was harvested and vinified separately and then matured in 100% new 225 litre French oak barrels for 15 months, before being blended together and then returned to the same barrels for a further six months maturation. After a total of 21 months in barrel, the wine was re-assembled, filtered and bottled.?Deep purple in colour, this wine boasts aromas of blackberries along with savoury hints of bramble, fresh cedar, liquorice, vanilla and toast. Pure blackcurrant flavours, savoury oak, fine-grained tannins and juicy acidity combine effortlessly to produce a concentrated, textural palate that powers to a long and satisfying finish.[#intro]The Gimblett has serious structure, richness, power and lovely blackberry aromatics...[/intro]
